Language courses

The foreigners who have received the right of residence in Romania and citizens of EU Member States and European Economic Area shall, on request, benefit the right for free Romanian laguage courses. These courses are organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the General Inspectorate for Immigration and aimed at familiarizing participants with the Romanian language. During the Romanian language courses, the children may be enrolled as auditorium in the education system.

In order to enter the academic year corresponding to the held knowledge, the school inspectorates for minors organize a free Romanian language initiation. The duration of the initiation language course is one year. Foreign students can be enrolled in the school units nominated by the County School Inspectorates (ISJ)/ or Bucharest School Inspectorate (ISMB).

The foreign citizens can be enrolled in the Romanian language preparatory year within higher education institutions, according to the legal provisions regarding the organization and conducting of the Romanian language preparatory year. To facilitate access to the Romanian education system, the foreigners receive, free of charge, during a school year, a preparation course in order to register in the national education system. During the Romanian language course, the children may be enrolled as trainees in the education system.
