The public pension system offers an old-age pension and a survivor’s pension to all persons who have accumulated a contribution period of at least 15 years.
In the case of EU / EEA citizens or the Swiss Confederation who have carried out professional activity on the Romanian territory and have had the quality of insured person in the public pension system, the provisions of Regulation (EC) of the European Parliament and of the Council no. 883 of 2004 are applicable.
They will be able to benefit from the pension rights accumulated in Romania, regardless of the period in which they had the quality of insured, on the date when they will retire, regardless of the Member State in which the pension right is opened.
