The accident of life guarantee (GAV) is used to protect the insured, and possibly his family, from the consequences of everyday accidents. The insurer compensates the insured victim of an accident, if the person responsible is not identified or if the insured is himself the person responsible. The contracts offered by insurers differ, certain elements of the guarantee may already be covered by other insurance (social security, complementary health, bank card, etc.).
The cover may concern the insured only, or also include their children and their spouse, PACS partner or cohabiting partner.
The accident of life guarantee covers bodily injury related to:
- domestic accidents (burns, falls, DIY, gardening, poisoning, etc.),
- accidents occurring in the context of leisure activities (sport, travel, etc.),
- natural (storm, avalanche, earthquake, etc.) or technological disasters (collapse of a store, for example),
- medical accidents (abnormal and unforeseeable consequences of medical acts)
- attacks or attacks.
The guarantee does not cover bodily injury linked to road accidents and work accidents, the compensation for which is covered by other insurances.
Insureds can also include exclusion clauses in the contract for specifically designated risks (accidents linked to the practice of certain sports for example).
