Citizens of the EU / EEA / Swiss Confederation can be employed in Romania in vocational training or apprenticeship activities under the same conditions as Romanian citizens. The general condition that must be fulfilled in order to participate in a training or apprenticeship program that ends with an officially recognized certification on the Romanian territory is the graduation of the 8-year compulsory education courses. If the participation in the training or apprenticeship program requires a stay longer than 90 days on the Romanian territory, the EU citizen can apply for a residence permit.
Apprenticeship programs are offered by vocational schools or crafting high schools. Persons enrolled in apprenticeship programs receive an allowance. The apprenticeship activity is regulated by Law no. 279 of 2005.
Required documents
1. standard application;
2. identity card or passport (original and copy);
3. documents certifying that he is enrolled in an accredited educational institution;
4. proof of means of subsistence;
5. proof of health insurance except for the persons who fall under art.213 paragraph (1) letter. a) of Law no. 95/2006, with subsequent amendments and completions;
