Social Security is a system that aims to ensure basic citizens’ rights and equal opportunities. It is assumed that natural and legal persons who relate to Social Security are subject to identification in the information system, through the attribution of a Social Security Identification Number (NISS).
“NISS na Hora”, is an update of Social Security, aimed at foreign citizens who intend to start their professional activity under the Employee, Independent Worker or Domestic Service Worker regimes. To issue the NISS, you must go to any Social Security facility (at the District Headquarters of each District Center, with a specific service center, and at the Local Service Center).
Forms to be delivered if you work for Others and for Domestic Service Workers:
- Mod RV 1009-DGSS-Registration / Framing of Self-Employed / Communication of Work/Professional intern/trainee/ Young person hired on school holidays/ Start of activity of the worker or professional trainee/intern / Link to a new employer or equivalent Termination / Suspension of the activity of the worker or professional trainee/intern.
- Mod RV 1006-DGSS – Foreign Citizen – Complementary Identification
Documents to be delivered if you work for Others and for Domestic Service Workers:
- Passport and respective copy OR Citizen card or other civil identification document from the country of origin and respective copy
- (In the case of Domestic Service workers) Copy of the Employer Entity’s Civil Identification Document;
- Employment contract
- If Domestic Service Workers and the employer and worker agree to pay contributions based on effective remuneration, in addition to the documents indicated, they must present: Photocopy of the agreement if it is not already in the employment contract and medical certificate of capacity to exercise the activity issued by the National Health Service (SNS).
Forms to be delivered if you started your professional activity as an Independent Worker:
- Mod RV 1000-DGSS -Inscription / framing of self-employed
- Mod RV 1006-DGSS – Foreign Citizen – Complementary Identification.
Documents to be delivered if you started your professional activity as an Independent Worker:
- Passport and respective copy OR Citizen card or other civil identification document from the country of origin and respective copy
- Declaration of initiation of independent activity issued by AT(tax authority)
3.1. Old age and survivor pensions
