Public housing

Requirements to apply for the Popular House:

  • Italian citizens or those who are resident or working in the city in which they intend to apply for the grant of the people’s home;
  • foreigners who are legally resident;
  • foreigners holding residence permits; • total income less than a certain figure;
  • a number of children;
  • the presence of disabled family members;
  • not having been evicted from other low-income housing in the last 5 years;
  • have not been occupying housing without title in the last 5 years.

The requirements that must be met in order to be able to be enrolled in the ranking of those entitled to a people’s home, may vary from entity to entity that makes them available.

Where and how to apply for the Housing Project?
You should contact the offices of your municipality of residence, which will have you fill out a form, to which you must also attach the documentation.
Once your application is in order, the City Council will register you on the waiting list for the People’s Home, according to which these apartments are distributed.

According to what is the ranking for low-income housing drawn up?

The criteria with which are given of the:

  • Being below a certain income (this is not the same in all of Italy, but is established by Municipality to Municipality).
  • Have an invalidity score (the higher the better)
  • Number of people in the household (the higher the better)
  • Number of dependent minors (the more you have, the higher the score).

Documents to be submitted when applying for the People’s Home:
Applying for the People’s Home is always a stress, especially for those who live in big cities. There are documents that you must have and that we advise you to bring, so that you do not have to return too many times to the counters of the City to complete your application.

  • Valid identity document.
  • Completed Isee template.
  • Certificate of civil invalidity or other invalidity) where your invalidity score is also specified. This is valid ONLY for those who are invalid, of course.

Probably, even all these documents will not be sufficient (according to the municipalities, there are requests for other types of documentation to complete the application).
